“With a rich vocal timbre, the Bay Area’s Zoe FitzGerald Carter’s 10-cut beauty of an LP Waterlines is assured & catchy. Some folk, funk, & storytelling, it’s a well-produced set.”

REVIEW Zoe FitzGerald Carter Waterlines

"In her second solo album, Waterlines, Zoe FitzGerald Carter expands upon her roots in the East Bay’s folk and Americana scenes. Her impressive acoustic guitar-picking is still evident, but the songs on the record are delivered in a variety of styles that highlight their spirited lyrics and her often-ironic sense of humor.”

Review by Norwegian blogger Knut Olav Halseth

"Zoe takes me on a journey where my thoughts go to Joni Mitchell and Eva Cassidy. The title track Below the Waterline is a gem that in all its simplicity gives me goosebumps and a lump in my throat.”

Michael’s Music Log

"The music largely fits in the folk realm, but Zoe FitzGerald Carter certainly does not feel restricted by that term, employing elements of jazz, Latin music and rock as she crafts beautiful, emotionally engaging songs. Hers is a voice that has both warmth and experience.”

REVIEW Zoe FitzGerald Carter Waterlines

"There is no shortage of atmosphere and fun with this album “Waterlines”, the second but certainly not the last by language and music virtuoso Zoe FitzGerald Carter. We notice similarities with the work of folk singers such as Mary Black and Joni Mitchell."

Now Hear This — Zoe Fitzgerald Carter’s “Waterlines”

"Carter is steeped in the folk-rock-country music of the 1970s, when she grew up, and her new album has the heart-tugging, tightly produced feel of Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Randy Newman, Lowell George and Little Feat and the other great LPs of that decade." — San Francisco Journalist David Talbot

REVIEW: Zoe Fitzgerald Carter “Waterlines” is Rich Vocal Timbre’

There aren’t any boring moments. They’re all well-crafted songs. On “Below the Waterline,” Zoe sounds like she’s channeling the songwriting style of Nanci Griffith thru a Mary Chapin Carpenter tone. Zoe’s lyrics are applied with expertise. The accordion drenches the melody in a Parisian flavor. The showcase is refreshing.
